“All fixed set patterns are incapable of adaptability or pliability. The truth is outside of all fixed patterns.”
–Bruce Lee.
A pattern is usually referred to as a recurring set of shapes, objects or a layout in which its content is designed. Or simply a pattern is an underlying structure that organizes surfaces or structures consistently and regularly.
Creating dynamic and visually captivating photographs is often done by examining and utilizing the immediate surroundings. Pattern photography employs elements that are repeated. The repetition of lines, shapes, tones or colors, does tend to create interesting images.
Examples of patterns usually occur in nature and showcase the distinct difference between the two objects. For example, pattern photography can occur with the breaking of repetition between a luminescent LED bulb and a wall adjacent to it.
Pattern photography uses a combination of visual elements and design to compose an image. This is done in various ways such as combining colors, shapes or objects to transform a normal-looking scene into a captivating and enthralling assemblage.
We as photographers, emphasize or break the pattern to capture a great image using an appropriate lens.
